Corporate Meeting on the Rock By Karen Holm
“A few years ago a friend who worked for a local climbing equipment company saved for me a large box of webbing scrap-ends, destined for the landfill, thinking I might be inspired. Two years ago I designed Couloir Couture as my first garment from these. Shortly after, I tried weaving some on a dress form. The results were magic – organically negative space and bold color blocks appeared – the design evolving from the process.”
Made from woven and sewn climbing webbing scrap ends, Corporate Meeting on the Rocks is the perfect suit for the most discerning outdoors professional. The fitted to flare retro slacks and the weave generated color-blocked top can move easily from meeting to midnight.
Karen teaches at REALMS. In her “spare time” she is an adventurer in the outdoors and in the trash fashion world. Creating auction pieces each year for the Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show, she has raised nearly $6000 from the sale of her pieces for education at REALMS. Karen’s pieces are in collections around the Northwest. Her trash fashion goal is to have her, Obama Sign Dress, in the collection of Michelle Obama.
Check out her other non-auction piece, We Shall Overcome, in the 2nd show on January 14th at the Midtown Music Hall.
