Wild Warrior Dog Woman By Simone Kujak
“I wanted to use trash material that was painful to throw away. With a small pack of dogs I felt saddened regularly with the mere volume each dog food bag created in the garbage, so it was a clear and easy choice. Shortly after last year’s fashion show I began saving the bags. Thirty-five large bags, one year’s supply, were used! I selected my favorite parts of each bag, the image of the wild animals hunting their prey and the word ‘Wild’ from the name. By stitching around each image and pleating it I created a large fluffy tail like dress. Connecting the words ‘Wild’ together to create the main top section, I kept it free feeling and armor inspired on the bust.”
“Reflecting on what having dogs has taught me, along with teaching them to be part human, I in turn had to be part dog. Domesticated or not, they are at heart wild animals. As now I am wild hearted as well.”
Simone is a stay at home mom, but on the side she makes organic clothing with fibers grown in the USA. She studied Costume Design at Southern Oregon University and now has an etsy shop called ImOneCreations. She loves fashioning custom items for friends and acquaintances in the community, but is also thrilled to design something fun, different and out of trash to support REALMS Charter School.
